This Mercator projection extends to latitudes 70° north and south. Topographic relief is colour-coded according to the key at the right. Selected major features of the planet and spacecraft landing sites are labeled. This perspective demonstrates the contrast in relief between the planet’s northern and southern hemispheres and the dominance of Tharsis in the western hemisphere.
